Family Stories

Weeks ago, students dictated stories to us about their families. Finally, the stories are typed up and bound. They are so fun to read and are truly the words of the children. You will definitely read things I couldn't have known without them telling me. I love how each one is special and different! The children cannot wait to take these books home and I don't blame them, they worked hard on them. What excited me most were the illustrations. We have been working on drawing shapes for weeks now. We draw them, and cut them, and point them out every chance we get. Everyone in both of our class can now recognize basic shapes and most children can draw them, too.

Today, all of that teaching and hard work paid off. As the student illustrated their books, I simply reminded them of the basic shapes to a person's body. I reminded them to draw a circle for the head, triangle for the body, lines for the arms and legs, and they remembered. Their pictures came out just adorable and were the perfect finishing touch on their family books. I can't wait for everyone to see these!! My little preschoolers are learning and that makes me the happiest preschool teacher ever!

Here are a few of the drawings...

I love it!!!
