Houses out of Craft Sticks

Although they look relatively simple, these houses were a lot of work. They were great practice with fine motor skills and patience. Yes, patience!! Criss-crossing the craft sticks was hard to understand, and the sticks slid around a lot because white glue takes so long to dry. Then, to paint it was difficult too, because of all of the gaps and grooves. But, wow, what a fun project to finish and see the sense of accomplishment that these preschoolers had. We had a very funny conversation with one of the classes about how long these houses took to make versus how long it would take to make a house like the kinds we live in. Some people thought it would take an entire week to build a real house, while others thought it would take 100 years.

They cannot wait to take their houses home to show you!! They took a long time to dry, so you'll have to patient and see them next week.
