Painting!

We had so much fun painting this week! We haven't done a free painting center in a long time, one where the students get to paint whatever they want. They were so serious as they worked and talked non-stop as they explained to me what they were making and why. They were like little adults as they talked through their work. I loved it!! Here are just a few of the fun things that were painted.

Here is a giraffe lifting his neck up to the sun. I has lots of legs, do you see them? He was so excited about his giraffe.
This one is easy to recognize. Several kids made one just like it. It's a rainbow!!
This one is an elephant. Doesn't look like an elephant to you, pretend! It takes some imagining to see the trunk and feet, but in a preschooler's mind it is all there. And that's all that matters.
I see a lot more painting in our future. The preschoolers are smart enough and creative enough now to really get a lot out of it. And the motor skills it takes to paint a picture with lots of colors and not make a GIANT mess is all part of learning, too. I was amazed at how neatly they painted, as well as how creative they were!
