Show and Tell

Show and Tell is a very fun time in our classroom. Students are encouraged to bring anything they want, something they are excited about and proud to show off.

They get to tell us about what they brought and then the other students get to ask them questions about it. We have questions on cards that we pick through and hand them, whispering to them what to ask. This helps get conversation going. However, more and more, students are coming up with their own questions. They are learning at such a young age, conversation skills that will last a lifetime.

This dinosaur here was too fun, not to share. This boy was so funny as I helped him put his dinosaur back into his back pack. He was a very large dinosaur, so we struggled to get him inside. I was told, by the child, to fold his tail over and let him stick his head out. After talking to his mother later, I learned that they had a similar conversation about getting the dinosaur to school. She had tried to put the dinosaur in upside down and was corrected by the child that he needed to have his head out. These preschoolers have their own ideas and interests and are proud of who they are and what they have to share with the world. Show and tell gives them a chance to shine, to teach, and most importantly, learn how to communicate in front of their peers.

Thank you, parents!! You are the reason that show and tell works in our classroom! We appreciate all that you do!
