Patterns

It was not a coincidence that the ghosts and bats are hung throughout our classroom in a pattern. We have been talking all about patterns. We started by making patterns out of pumpkins and candy corns. Everyone should be able to make an AB pattern like the one here.
Then I always ask the preschoolers to make a different pattern. Here, their answers vary. They sometimes make an AABB pattern...
Or an ABB pattern...
Or an AAB pattern...
Finally, after two different patterns, they get to eat their candy corn, which, of course, is their favorite part.

Then, to put our fun to practice, we completed the following pages. These are patterns just like the ones we did together with the manipulatives, but for some reason, they are always harder.

After working through it together, however, everyone was successful!

At home, practice patterns in the real world. Have your child make patterns with their lunch, or with their colored blocks, or other toys. I promise, they will amaze you!
