Fun with Fish

We used these felt fish cut outs to learn a new song.
Five little fishy, swimming in the sea,
teasing Mr. Shark, "Can't catch me! Can't catch me!"
Then, along comes Mr. Shark, as quiet as can be,
and snatches a fishy right out of the sea.

Four little fishy, swimming...
and on and on until the fish are gone.

Of course, what added to the fun was throwing the fish into the air once they were eaten by the shark.

We counted fish crackers that were swimming in these aquariums. This is a great way to count higher numbers since the children don't necessarily have to recognize the numbers as high as they know how to count.
We made fish out of tissue paper. These fish were colorful and easy to make.
Then, the favorite of the week were the "real" fish that the preschoolers could take home and play with. These were just made with scraps of leftover construction paper cut into squares and crumpled up into a quart size ziploc bag. A piece of string tied to the end made the tale and the eye was drawn on with a Sharpie marker. Simple, fun, and loved by your children.
This has been a fun unit for everyone!!
