I then explained that for the next couple of weeks, we'd be doing the same thing. We'd be learning about different pets and what it takes to take care of them.
We started with dogs, since according to our "Pet Wall" of pictures, dogs are most common. We talked about feeding dogs, walking dogs, why they wag their tails, and why they pant. We then made these dogs whose tails wag and tongues do, too!
We counted and sorted dog bones, too. Yes, real dog bones! The children would have to put certain bones in their bowl for their doggy. Then, I'd tell them their doggy changed his mind and change the bones they needed. They would laugh and dump out their bones to start over. One child finally said, "No, Miss Alishia, my doggy likes these!"
